November 2025 Coffee Break Series: Pediatric Substance Abuse
November 2025 Coffee Break Series: Pediatric Substance Abuse
Moderator: Katie Terry, MSN, RN, CPN
(Educational Products and Services Committee Member)
It is crucial to stay informed about trends in pediatric substance abuse. Hospitals are experiencing an increase in cannabis gummy ingestion among children under the age of 6. Although there has been a decline in alcohol consumption among teenagers, there has been a rise in the use of opioids and other prescription drugs. Additionally, opioid-related overdoses in children have increased. Social media plays a significant role in shaping perceptions and marketing substances. An example is the "Benadryl Challenge?" Participate in the SPN Coffee Break to discuss the trends you've observed and the initiatives your organization is implementing to tackle these issues
Please note: The coffee break recording will not be available for viewing after the session. No contact hours are awarded for completing any components of the coffee break.
