How Do We Solve A Problem Like Gun Injury: A Pediatrician’s Perspective

PresenterDr. Benjamin Hoffman MD CPST-I

Description: Firearms injuries is the leading cause of death in the youth population. While guns are responsible for thousands of deaths and injuries across the country, we have not treated it like the public health crisis it is. Through understanding of the epidemiology of gun injury to children and youth, coupled with a discussion of how we can open the conversation to begin to talk about guns, it is hoped that we can begin to change how we look at the problem, and craft solutions. This webinar will frame the issue of gun injury to children and youth as a public health issue, examine the root causes, and develop a framework for addressing solutions

Outcome:  Participants will integrate a new strategy for regularly discussing gun injury prevention and address safe storage with families, children, and youth into their practice based upon the knowledge gained
