Adolescent Girls and Emotional Distress: Exploring the Impact of Sociocultural Influences
Presenter: Gennifer Holt, PhD, RN, CCRN
Join the Society of Pediatric Nurses for a session discussing emotional distress amongst the pediatric adolescent girl population. Depression and suicide rates among adolescent girls are on the rise. Nurses can redirect the conversation beyond individual or biological explanations in caring for such a vulnerable population. Participate in this webinar, where Dr. Holt will discuss her research focusing on the sociocultural factors affecting young girls and their mental well-being. With this knowledge, it may be possible to create a shift in the education of new nurses, screening practices, and attitudes of nurses in the approach and care of emotional and mental health in adolescent girls.
Outcome: 85% of the participants will self-report that this session has enhanced their knowledge of the sociocultural factors affecting young girls and their mental well-being based on this educational activity
Continuing Education: Society of Pediatric Nurses is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 16532.
